AMI announced a new music contest to win the Ultimate Richard Marx Prize Pack. The contest celebrates the storied career of the artist. The Prize Pack includes an autographed photo, a signature t-shirt, a “Don’t Mean Nothing” t-shirt, an embroidered hat, Marx drink mixer, a photo tote bag, and signature key chain. The contest is open now through June 26, 2019. Music fans can enter the contest using the AMI Music app, available on iOS and Android. Richard Marx is an accomplished singer-songwriter. He has written or performed at least one chart-topping single in four consecutive decades. During his career, he’s sold over 30 million records. In addition to his commercial success, he’s received critical acclaim and numerous Grammy nominations. Marx is in the music record books as the first solo artist to have his first seven singles to reach the Top 5 in the Billboard Hot 100.

After spending years as a songwriter and backing vocalist for other artists, such as Kenny Rogers, Marx released his self-titled debut album in 1987. His second album, Repeat Offender (1989), went on to hit #1. He released three more albums in the 90s: Rush Street (1991), Paid Vacation (1994), and Flesh and Bone (1997). In the year 2000, Marx released his sixth studio album, Days in Avalon. He produced five more releases in the 2000s and 2010s: My own Best Enemy (2004), Emotional Remains (2008), Sundown (2008), Christmas Spirit (2012), and Beautiful Goodbye (2014).

During his career, Marx has been known for his Adult Contemporary songs, but he crosses genres. While some of his biggest hits were love songs and ballads, many of his songs have a Classic Rock sound. This can be heard on songs like “Don’t Mean Nothing,” “Should’ve Known Better,” and “Satisfied.” In addition to hits he performed, Marx is an accomplished songwriter for other artists. This includes “Long Hot Summer” a #1 single in 2014, performed by Keith Urban.
