22 Apr A New AMI Jukebox Giveaway Celebrating the Music of Fontaines D.C.

-Prize pack includes all three albums plus exclusive band merchandise.

AMI’s latest contest coincides with the release of new music from Irish rockers, Fontaines D.C. One lucky fan will win a prize pack that includes merchandise and music from each album: Dogrel (LP) plus t-shirt, coin pin, and journal, A Hero’s Death (2xLP) plus t-shirt, tote bag and limited 7” single, and a deluxe 2xLP edition of their newest, Skinty Fia plus t-shirt and turntable slipmat.

The giveaway runs April 22, 2022 through May 4, 2022. Everyone can enter the contest using the AMI Music app, available on iOS and Android. Contest entry is also available on any participating AMI Jukebox.

Fontaines D.C. is: Grian Chatten (vocals), Carlos O’Connell (guitar), Conor Curley (guitar), Conor Deegan III (bass), and Tom Coll (drums). Formed in Dublin, Ireland while attending the British Institute of Modern Music, the band members bonded over their love of Beat poets like Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg, and classic Irish poets like James Joyce and William Butler Yeats. The band’s name honors Johnny Fontane, a character from the 1972 film, The Godfather while D.C. stands for Dublin City– where they got their start. Soon after coming together in 2017, they began performing regularly and landed their first deal with Partisan Records in 2018.

Their debut album, Dogrel was released in 2019, to widespread critical acclaim. The album name is a nod to Doggerel, a type of working-class Irish poetry– irregular in rhythm, characteristic of nursery rhymes and children’s songs and known as “the poetry of the people.” It was followed up with an international 50-city tour. Their much-anticipated second album, A Hero’s Death came out in 2020 and soon after was nominated for a Grammy award for Best Rock Album. The band’s third effort was announced in January, 2022 along with the release of the first single and music video for “Jackie Down the Line.” According to the band’s website: “Part bittersweet romance, part darkly political triumph- the songs ultimately form a long-distance love letter, one that laments an increasingly privatized culture in danger of going the way of the extinct Irish Giant deer.” The title Skinty Fia is a rough translation of the old Irish saying “the damnation of the deer.” The album, releasing on April 22, 2022 will be followed by a tour of North America, Europe, and Australia.
