AMI announced a new contest for a Goo Goo Dolls Prize Bundle to coincide with the release of their new album, Miracle Pill. The contest is open now through September 25, 2019. Music fans can enter the contest using the AMI Music app, available on iOS and Android. Contest entry is also available on any participating AMI jukebox.

The 12 albums are: Goo Goo Dolls (1987), Hold Me Up (1990), Super Star Car Wash (1993), A Boy Named Goo (1995), Dizzy Up the Girl (1998), Gutterflower (2002), Let the Love In (2006), Something for the Rest of Us (2010), Magnetic (2013), Boxes (2016), The Audience is That Way (2018 Live Album), and the new album Miracle Pill.

The Goo Goo Dolls have been making music for over three decades, with Miracle Pill being their thirteenth studio album. After their mid-90s mainstream breakthrough, they established themselves as one of the top Adult Alternative Rock bands in the world. During their impressive career, the Dolls have sold over 12 million albums and racked up nineteen Top 10 hits on various charts. They’ve won numerous Billboard, Radio Music and ASCAP awards.

Founding members Johnny Rzeznik and Robby Takec formed the group during 1986 in Buffalo. Rzeznik is the primary songwriter, lead vocalist, and plays guitar. Takac plays bass and sings as well. The band’s original sound was much more punk rock oriented. They rose to prominence in Buffalo’s underground music scene and were popular on college and indie radio stations. The group produced four albums during this early garage band period. They also toured the country as an opening act for bands like Green Day, Bad Religion, Motorhead, and The Dead Milkmen.

Their big breakthrough success started in 1995 with their fifth album, A Boy Named Goo. The eventual success of the single “Name” launched the album’s sales to double-platinum status. The song’s “adult-oriented rock” sound was a departure from their earlier punk and post-grunge music style. Despite the album’s success, Rzeznik was dealing with writer’s block and on the verge of quitting when he was approached to record a new song for the upcoming movie City of Angels.

The song he wrote for the film was 1998’s “Iris.” It was not only their biggest single, but one of the most successful singles of the decade. It was on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart for a record-breaking 18 weeks. In 2012, it was ranked #1 on Billboard’s Top 100 Pop Songs 1992-2012. Around the same time, they released “Slide,” an equally successful single. The music videos for “Iris” and “Slide” are available for play on AMI Music Video Jukeboxes. Both singles were on their sixth album Dizzy Up the Girl, which also included the Top 10 hits “Black Balloon,” “Broadway,” and “Dizzy.” The five charting singles propelled the album to triple-platinum sales. The picture disc included in the prize bundle is for Dizzy Up the Girl.

Following the success of Dizzy Up the Girl, the band produced five more albums between 2002 and 2016. They enjoyed continued success throughout this time. They also produced various compilation albums and toured rigorously. Their newest album, Miracle Pill, was preceded by the title track and “Money, Fame & Fortune.” The album is available on AMI jukeboxes.

AMI Entertainment is proud to offer this music contest to Goo Goo Dolls fans and music lovers alike. The album collection and turntable will look great in any collection. Contest entry is free and open to all. Music fans are encouraged to enter the contest using the AMI Music app, or by visiting a nearby AMI jukebox venue.
