Talking Heads is: David Byrne (vocals, guitar), Chris Frantz (Drums), Tina Weymouth (bass), and Jerry Harrison (keyboards, guitar). The band formed in 1975, in New York City and released their debut album, Talking Heads: 77 in 1977 to widespread positive reviews. Their follow-up album—1978’s More Songs About Buildings and Food marked the beginning of the band’s collaboration with famed producer, Brian Eno. It was their fourth album (and last with Eno) that delighted listeners for its innovative and unusual sound. Praised by critics, 1980’s experimental Remain in Light drew influences from all over the world, including African rhythms, funk, and electronica. 1982 saw the release of The Name of This Band is Talking Heads—their first double live album, and the last before they hit what is considered their commercial peak, or as some would call it—their MTV era.

Since the band’s breakup in 1991, they have remained in the spotlight and regarded as pioneers of the new wave. In 2002, Talking Heads reunited to play at the ceremony of their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2017, the Library of Congress deemed Remain in Light “culturally, historically, or artistically significant” and selected it for preservation in the National Recording Registry.

The bandmembers have remained active in the art-pop world and continue to entertain. Singer David Byrne has had multiple solo endeavors, immersive theater projects, a Broadway production, an internet radio station, and has published a book of his art. Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz saw success with their side project, Tom Tom Club, and are currently on a speaking tour in the UK. Drummer Jerry Harrison has teamed up with longtime touring member of Talking Heads, Adrian Belew, for their Remain in Light 2023 Tour which celebrates the 40th anniversary of the album, albeit 2 years late due to Covid. Said Belew of the project: “All three [original members] have given their blessing to this and they’re very happy that we’re out doing it.” The tour has scheduled dates across the US and runs through June of 2023.

AMI proudly presents the chance to win this Talking Heads merchandise bundle. For a limited time, AMI jukeboxes will also be featuring a playlist of the band’s greatest hits. All fans are encouraged to check out the playlist and US residents aged 18+ may enter the giveaway using the AMI Music app or by visiting an AMI jukebox venue.
