Halsey has been all over the music scene for the past four years. In addition to her acclaimed and successful solo work, she is a frequent collaborator with other artists. She’’s been featured on hits by The Chainsmokers, G-Eazy, Quavo, Juice WRLD, BTS, Yungblud, and more. She’s achieved multiple platinum-selling singles, chart-topping albums and many awards. Her highly anticipated new album was preceded by the #1 single “Without Me.” Halsey will be going on the “Manic World Tour,” beginning in March, in support of her new album.

Halsey’s difficult upbringing and early life financial struggles helped shape her unique perspective as a music artist. She began writing and recording music at 17 years old while dating a man who lived on Halsey St. in Brooklyn NY. She adopted her stage name to honor the street name and because it’s an anagram of her first name Ashley.

In 2012, Halsey began posting her music on social media channels like YouTube, Kik, and Tumblr. She broke through the music scene with the single “Ghost.” It was posted to Soundcloud, where it gained in popularity and eventually charted. Due to the single’s success, Halsey was courted by several record labels, ultimately signing to Astralwerks, a division of Universal Music Group. She released her debut EP Room 93 in October of 2014.

The following year, she released her debut studio album, Badlands. It was a concept album taking place in a dystopian future society, which acts as a metaphor for mental health struggles at the time. It was critically acclaimed and debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200. It featured the singles “Ghost”, “New Americana”, “Colors”, and “Castle”, which all achieved platinum certification.

In July 2016, The Chainsmokers released their collaboration with Halsey, “Closer.” She co-wrote the song in addition to providing vocals for it. The song spent twelve weeks at the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned her a Grammy nomination for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.” The success of the single helped bring her to a wider music audience.

Following the success of “Closer”, she released the song “Now or Never.” It served as the lead single to her second studio album, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom. The album, released June 2017, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. Like its predecessor, it was concept album, this time dealing with two lovers in a Romeo & Juliet inspired story. It was more of a “radio friendly” album than her first one. The album’s second single, “Bad at Love,” achieved 4x platinum certification and was her highest charting single as a lead artist at the time. Later in in 2017, she collaborated with her then-boyfriend G-Eazy on the single “Him & I.”

In October of 2018, Halsey released her next single “Without Me.” It’s her highest charting single as a lead artist, going #1. In March of 2019, she announced her next album, which became Manic. Three more singles were released ahead of the album: “Nightmare,” “Graveyard,” and “Clementine.”

Halsey’s success as an artist in due in large part to her skill as a songwriter. She’s acclaimed for being able tell a story through her lyrics, which often draw from her personal struggles. She also produces music across multiple genres. While her music is often labeled as pop, she considers herself to be an alternative artist. Halsey’s entire discography and the music videos for “Ghost,” “Closer,” and “Without Me” are all available on the AMI Digital Jukebox Network.

AMI Entertainment is proud to offer this contest to Halsey fans and music lovers alike. Contest entry is free and open to all. Music fans are encouraged to enter the contest using the AMI Music app, or by visiting a nearby AMI jukebox venue.
