Trivia Game Play
How do my venue's guests play AMI Trivia?
To play AMI Trivia, your guests simply need to use our free AMI Play app, available for download in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Once installed, they’ll create a free account and allow location services. The app will automatically detect nearby venues—your guests just check into your venue and tap the "Trivia" button to join the game. It’s quick, easy, and completely free to play.
Can players join a game already in progress?
Yes. Once a player opens the app and selects a venue, they will be immediately entered into the current game regardless of how far along it may be. Players will not be able to answer questions already in progress. Unfortunately, players are unable to join while the final question is already being answered. They will need to wait until the next game begins to participate. Please note that the player must have already downloaded our AMI Play app and created a free account.
What is the cost to play for patrons?
AMI Trivia is always free to play.
Do players need to be on the venue's Wi-Fi to play?
No, players can use their own mobile data or Wi-Fi. As long as they have internet access, they can participate through the AMI Play app.
What is the maximum number of players per game?
There is no technical limit to the number of players who can play a game at once. The leaderboard will only show the top 20 players.
Can my guests play as a team?
Players cannot form teams within the app. Each device is treated as an individual player for scoring and leaderboard purposes.
Are there prizes for winning trivia games?
AMI does not issue prizes directly. However, venues may choose to offer their own rewards for top scorers, including during tournaments.
How much time is there in between questions?
There are just a few seconds in between questions 1-6 and questions 7-12. After Question 6, there is a 2-minute game break.
How much time is there between games?
Games are 20 minutes long, with approximately 3 minutes between each game.
Is the trivia content family-friendly?
AMI Trivia content is designed to be family-friendly and accessible for general audiences; however, it may occasionally include mild adult themes, language, references to alcohol, or depictions of fictional violence. Parental guidance is recommended.
Are the questions the same for all venues at the same time?
Yes, if they are assigned to the same schedule. all participating venues running the same schedule will receive the same questions. If they are on different schedules, they will see different questions. When running a tournament, it is important to make sure all participating venues are on the same schedule to keep the competition fair.
Does the game run 24/7?
Schedules include games from 7:00am until 3:00am the next day. If the media player is powered on during that time, a game will run. Games will also continue to run in the background if you were to change the input on the TV.
How do I report an incorrect question/answer?
If you see a question, answer, or factoid that you believe to be incorrect, please send us an e-mail at triviafeedback@amientertainment.com. Please include as much detail about the question as possible.
Trivia Game Management
Can I choose a specific category for a scheduled tournament?
Right now, a scheduled tournament will include the categories during that period as listed on the weekly game schedule that venue has selected. Changing to a different schedule would give you a different assortment of categories during your scheduled tournament if you’re looking for a different variety week to week.
Which of the game management features are available to staff in Co-Pilot?
Currently, all changes to trivia gameplay settings must be via our customer dashboard amientertainment.net. You can create and upload ads for trivia using Co-Pilot. You will be given a username and password to amientertainment.net once you start a trivia subscription.
How do I run tournaments at my venue(s)?

Can I view game results or reports after a tournament ends?
Yes, you can log in to amientertainment.net to access reports on game participation, scores, and other analytics after the event has ended.
Can I change the game that is currently playing on the TV?
No, you cannot change the game currently playing.
Can I change the game schedule?
Yes. There are currently 9 schedules to choose from. To change your existing schedule to one of the others, please visit amientertainment.net. A schedule change will not take effect until 7:00am the next morning.
Can I create my own schedule?
Currently, you cannot create your own schedule.
Can staff manually pause or stop a game?
Currently, trivia games cannot be manually paused or stopped. The game will proceed based on the schedule unless the media player is turned off.
Is there a way to hide the trivia game from the public temporarily?
You can temporarily stop trivia from displaying by switching the TV input, but the game will continue running in the background.
How much does it cost for a venue to offer AMI Trivia?
AMI Trivia is available through a low monthly subscription with no long-term commitment required. It’s designed to be affordable for any venue—many of our partners say it takes just 1–2 extra drinks purchased a day to more than cover the cost.
Can I cancel my AMI Trivia subscription at any time?
Yes, you can cancel your AMI Trivia subscription at any time. Subscriptions are billed monthly, and there is no long-term commitment or annual contract. Please note that cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing cycle, and no prorated refunds or credits are issued for partial months.
Can I request a new game?
If you have a suggestion for a new game category, please feel free to send us an e-mail at triviafeedback@amientertainment.com.
Can I remove a game from the schedule?
Currently, we are not able to accommodate removals of games from schedules.
Trivia Setup
What internet speed is required for the game to run?
An internet speed of 25Mbps minimum with a latency under 100ms is required for smooth trivia game play. Low latency is the most important factor for Trivia game play.
Does every venue need a media player to play trivia?
A media player is required at every venue, but the signal can be shared to multiple TVs with a splitter or matrix.
Is an AMI jukebox a requirement to offer AMI Trivia?
An AMI jukebox is not required to offer AMI Trivia.
Does AMI Trivia play audio through the venue's sound system?
No, AMI Trivia is completely silent—it does not include any sound effects or music. This makes it an ideal entertainment option for venues, as it won’t disrupt other activities like live sporting events, jukebox music, or conversations. The game displays visually on the screen, allowing guests to engage without requiring audio.
Can AMI Trivia be displayed in portrait mode for digital signage?
No, AMI Trivia is optimized for 16:9 landscape display and will not function correctly in portrait orientation.
What happens if the media player loses internet connection?
The game won’t ever pause or stop, but it will be disrupted. Questions will still appear but player scores won’t tally or appear in the leaderboard. A stable connection is essential for trivia gameplay. Re-establish the internet connection and reboot the media player if necessary.
Do you need a dedicated TV connected for trivia play?
You do not need a dedicated TV for AMI trivia play. You can switch the input on the TV as needed for gameplay.
If I have multiple venues and no longer want to offer trivia at one, can I move the trivia hardware to a different venue?
Yes. Hardware can easily be moved from one venue to another. All that is required is a reassignment of that box to the new venue on the website.
