Van Halen is known for their dynamic sound and contributions to the music industry. One significant (and polarizing) era in the band’s history was marked by the tenure of singer Sammy Hagar. Replacing lead vocalist, David Lee Roth, Hagar joined in 1985 and the transition brought a new energy and style to the group’s music. With Hagar at the helm, Van Halen released several successful albums, including 5150 (1986), OU812 (1988), For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (1991), and Balance (1995). These albums featured chart-topping tracks like “Why Can’t This Be Love,” “Dreams,” “Right Now,” and “Can’t Stop Lovin’ You.”

Despite lineup changes and occasional turbulence, Sammy Hagar’s years with the band remain a significant chapter in their history. Said Hagar: “The peak of my musical life was Van Halen.” Their music from this period continues to be celebrated by fans and showcases their enduring influence in the world of rock. For a limited time, AMI jukeboxes will also be featuring a Van Halen playlist of their biggest hits throughout the years. Everyone is encouraged to check out the playlist and US residents may enter the contest using the AMI Music app or by visiting a nearby AMI jukebox venue.
